Dahlia Simangan, Co-Founder and Executive Director
Dahlia oversees the management and leads the research activities of Peace Perspectives. She obtained her PhD in International Relations from the Australian National University where he researched on liberal peacebuilding and local involvement in Cambodia, Kosovo, and Timor-Leste. She was moved to launch Peace Perspectives after attending several international conferences wherein she noticed how academics and experts debate and propose ways to build peace often without asking the people at the receiving end of these discourses what peace means to them. Lava Koirala, Co-Founder and Deputy Director
Born in Nepal and lived in the United States for more than a decade, he returned to his hometown of Kathmandu in 2016. Having observed various socio-economic issues brought about by post-civil war political stalemate in the Nepalese government, he was inspired to co-found our organization and manage our pilot project in Nepal. He now uses his academic experience ranging from Philosophy, Computer Management, Astronomy, and Environmental Science and professional network in achieving our organizational goals.
Riyaz Karki, Lead Field Researcher and Nepal Country Manager
Riyaz completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Thames International College in Kathmandu. Aside from volunteering his time and skills with us, he also currently serves as Project Assistant at Weaving Opportunities, Nepal. His previous internships with two NGOs equipped him with the right skills and attitude to conduct interviews with local communities. He brings his professional experience and passion for social change to Peace Perspectives in helping us echo the peace aspirations of the Nepalese people.
Bibek Singh, Financial Manager
Bibek provides financial advice on our budget planning, expenditure liquidation, and financial reports. Having served as financial manager to several NGOs in Nepal, he has extensive experience in ensuring financial transparency and accountability within our organization. After obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electronics and Communication, he established Bizinsider Tech Nepal, a private company building wireless communication infrastructure, in which he also sits as the Chairman/CEO.
Sujan Ghimire, Field Researcher
Sujan is a fourth year student at Golden Gate International College in Kathmandu and about to obtain his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies. In addition to his academic training on survey methods for his thesis, he also has experience conducting surveys as a trainee at Small Earth Nepal. Adept at photography and an avid traveller, Sujan’s involvement in Peace Perspectives will produce creative and dynamic documentation of our field research.
Abin Amgain, Field Researcher
Abin assists in Peace Perspectives‘ field research activities in terms of logistics planning, production of materials, to documentation. He recently finished +2 level (twelfth grade) at DAV College of Management in Kathmandu where he majored in Computer Science. As the youngest member of our group, he believes that it is never too early to start contributing to peace promotion and community development in Nepal.
Urmila K.C., Project Manager
Urmila is responsible for planning and implementing our community outreach activities. She used to work for Agricultural Project Services Center in Nepal for 18 years. Urmila also served as a social worker in an orphanage in Nepal for five years.
